Ruhengeri preview

Yesterday and today (10-11 September), I participated in a site visit to an influenza sentinel surveillance site at Ruhengeri District Hospital. I learned and saw so much, both about the health system and the Northern province. Ruhengeri is the city closest to Volcanoes National Park where the mountain gorillas live--at the junction of Rwanda, Uganda, and DRC. The chain of volcanoes are called the Virungas. Here are couple pictures of the Virungas at sunset (sorry about the funny foreground--a construction site is popping up all along the bottom but it adds a interesting dimension). I return to Ruhengeri early tomorrow to visit with the gorillas--I can't wait! More pictures tomorrow when I get back, I promise.
