This post prematurely published itself! How oddly fitting for eggs.
In any case, the most interesting thing about eggs here is their storage--I have seen eggs loose in a large cardboard box, carried around in (illegal?) clear plastic bags, and most dauntingly, in huge, flat open crates balanced on top of a vendor's head by the side of the road. Even in the big grocery store, Nakumatt, they are in an aisle, not refrigerated. Our housekeeper instructed us--as Americans--that we needed to be sure to wash them (when she buys the eggs, reusing our plastic crates from the big grocery at the local market, she washed them for us--she's fantastic!).
So far so good, no problems to date.
